A Calgary native, Jane has been a flamenco performer, teacher, and leader in the Edmonton arts community since 2001. As a flamenco artist, she is known for her rhythmic experimentation and precision. For over two decades, she has collaborated with professional flamenco artists from across Canada as both producer and guest artist. She has trained extensively with prominent Spanish artists, regularly returning to Spain to further her artistic development. Her studies focus on dance and also include flamenco history, song, percussion, and piano. A lifelong pianist, she holds her ARCT in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music and has maintained an active teaching studio since 1989. Jane was the Edmonton Flamenco Festival’s co-founder and Artistic Director, bringing Spanish artists to the Winspear stage, and featuring workshops, flashmobs, and guest Canadian artists for fundraiser performances. Featured guests included artists such as: the Sonia Olla & Ismael Fernández Flamenco Company, the Jairo Barrull Flamenco Company, and renowned dancers Carmen Ledesma and Manuela Rios. Jane is a 2023 dance recipient of the Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund Award. Supported by the Edmonton Arts Council and the Edmonton Community Foundation, this award is dedicated to the artistic development of Edmonton artists.
